Our Master student Eva finalized a protocol on how to survey mollusc in the BugNet plots. Our preliminary results suggest that the presence of pathogens and also insects might affect molluscs and vice versa. With this mollusc survey add-on we aim to shed some light on such potential interactive effects. It’s a quick add-on and Eva will send you all the required material except the Heineken beer for the beer traps and some ethanol to add the dead molluscs. It would be fantastic if some of you find the time to do the survey in your spring or autumn (when its nice and wet for the slugs)!

Also, Eva is keen to travel to some sites (European only, sorry!) and do the survey there, if you cannot find the time to do it yourself. If you have a site in Europe, would like to participate but don’t have the time, please let Eva know as soon as possible, so that she can plan her summer (eva.demont@students.unibe.ch)!
